Approximately Four Months of Easier Hot Tub Water Care

Start your hot tub with the complete FROG® @ease® Floating Sanitizing System and keep it supplied with SmartChlor® for approximately four months—all in one convenient bundle.

This package combines one complete floating system kit with an additional three-pack of SmartChlor replacement cartridges. Altogether, you receive one four-month mineral cartridge and four SmartChlor cartridges, plus FROG @ease Test Strips and FROG Jump Start® for startup.

FROG minerals and self-regulating SmartChlor work together to maintain clean, clear and comfortable hot-tub water with up to 75% less chlorine than the minimum ANSI-recommended chlorine level for traditional hot-tub water care.

Designed for the standard FROG @ease Floating Sanitizing System used in hot tubs up to 600 gallons.

Supply-duration note: Each SmartChlor cartridge typically lasts approximately 3–4 weeks in an average 400-gallon hot tub. Four cartridges provide approximately 12–16 weeks of use. Actual cartridge life varies based on hot-tub size, water balance, use, bather load and cartridge setting.

🔍 Compatibility

This bundle is made for the standard FROG @ease Floating Sanitizing System. It works independently in most traditional hot tubs with a water capacity of up to 600 gallons.

This bundle does not contain replacement cartridges for:

  • FROG @ease In-Line Systems
  • FROG @ease for Bullfrog Spas
  • FROG @ease for Jacuzzi Hot Tubs
  • FROG @ease for Sundance Spas
  • FROG @ease Simplicity systems
  • FROG @ease systems designed specifically for swim spas

FROG manufactures several similar-looking SmartChlor cartridges that are not interchangeable. Confirm that you need the standard floating system before ordering.

📋 How to Use

  1. Make sure the hot tub’s circulation system and filter are operating properly.
  2. Clean or replace the spa filter if needed.
  3. Test and balance the water before installing the floating system.
  4. Maintain total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm.
  5. Maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.6.
  6. Maintain total hardness between 150 and 250 ppm.
  7. Add the included FROG Jump Start packet according to its label directions.
  8. Remove the SmartChlor cartridge from its protective package.
  9. Set the cartridge dial for your hot tub’s water capacity using the included setting chart.
  10. Align the arrows on the mineral and SmartChlor cartridges, push them together and twist to lock.
  11. Place the assembled system in the hot tub and allow it to float freely.
  12. Test the water regularly using FROG @ease Test Strips.
  13. When the system flips completely over, remove it, drain the water and confirm that the SmartChlor cartridge is empty.
  14. Replace the empty SmartChlor cartridge and return the system to the hot tub.
  15. Replace the entire floating system, including the mineral cartridge, after four months or whenever the spa is drained and refilled.

💬 Southern Leisure Says

This bundle is the easiest way to start with the standard floating FROG @ease system. The starter kit supplies the mineral cartridge, your first SmartChlor cartridge, test strips and startup treatment, while the additional three-pack keeps replacement cartridges ready when the system flips.

Four SmartChlor cartridges can provide up to approximately 16 weeks of use, but “four months” is an estimate—not a guaranteed duration. Larger spas, frequent use and higher cartridge settings can consume SmartChlor more quickly.

Do not stretch the mineral cartridge beyond four months. Even if material can still be heard inside, the active minerals are considered depleted and the complete floating system must be replaced.

🧼 Care & Maintenance

  • Use FROG @ease Test Strips for accurate SmartChlor monitoring.
  • Standard chlorine strips may display the SmartChlor reserve differently and can be misleading.
  • Keep pH, alkalinity and hardness within the recommended ranges.
  • Inspect and clean the hot-tub filter regularly.
  • Replace the SmartChlor cartridge as soon as the system flips completely over.
  • Shock the water with FROG Maintain or a compatible non-chlorine shock when replacing SmartChlor or at least once a month.
  • Current manufacturer instructions advise against dichlor shock because cyanuric-acid buildup can reduce SmartChlor effectiveness.
  • The system may be removed while soaking; allow it to drain into the spa and return it to the water afterward.
  • Place the system only on surfaces that will not be damaged by chlorine bleaching.
  • Replace the mineral cartridge after four months or whenever the spa is drained and refilled.
  • Keep unused SmartChlor cartridges sealed, dry and out of reach of children.
  • Never mix spa chemicals together.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is included in this bundle?

You receive one complete FROG @ease Floating Sanitizing System and one additional three-pack of Floating SmartChlor cartridges. The system kit includes one mineral cartridge, one SmartChlor cartridge, FROG @ease Test Strips and FROG Jump Start. That gives you four SmartChlor cartridges total.

Is this guaranteed to last four full months?

No. Four months is an estimate based on each SmartChlor cartridge lasting approximately 3–4 weeks. Larger hot tubs, heavy use, high bather loads, water-balance problems and higher cartridge settings may shorten cartridge life.

How long does the mineral cartridge last?

The mineral cartridge lasts up to four months or until the hot tub is drained and refilled, whichever occurs first. It must be replaced even if material can still be heard inside.

Will this work with any brand of hot tub?

The standard floating system is not tied to one hot-tub brand and can be used in most traditional hot tubs up to 600 gallons. It is not interchangeable with FROG cartridges made for proprietary in-line, Bullfrog, Jacuzzi, Sundance or Simplicity systems.

How will I know when to replace SmartChlor?

The system normally floats at a slight angle. When the SmartChlor cartridge becomes empty, the system flips completely over. Remove and drain the system to confirm that it remains flipped before replacing the cartridge.

Can I use ordinary hot-tub test strips?

Use FROG @ease Test Strips whenever possible. SmartChlor creates a chlorine reserve that can cause ordinary strips to display results differently. The dedicated test strips include an indicator that shows whether the SmartChlor cartridge still has sanitizing power.

How often should I shock the hot tub?

Under normal conditions, the manufacturer recommends shocking with FROG Maintain or a compatible non-chlorine shock when replacing SmartChlor or at least once a month. Additional treatment may be required after unusually heavy use or if the water becomes cloudy.

Can I switch directly from bromine?

No. If the hot tub was previously sanitized with bromine or biguanides, drain and refill it before starting FROG @ease. If switching from dichlor, confirm that the cyanuric-acid level is within the manufacturer’s allowable range.

Can I use the SmartChlor cartridges without the mineral cartridge?

No. SmartChlor is designed to work together with the FROG mineral cartridge. SmartChlor alone is not sufficient to operate the FROG @ease sanitizing system as intended.

Can I leave the system in while using the hot tub?

Yes, but it may also be removed while soaking. Allow it to drain into the hot tub, place it on a chlorine-resistant surface and return it to the water after use.
