Important: This cartridge system requires the updated Simplicity Filter Housing, part number 10-04669. Bullfrog Spas manufactured before 2024 may have the previous housing design and may require this retrofittable replacement before the cartridges can be installed.

The updated housing can be retrofitted into compatible Bullfrog Spas already equipped with the Simplicity Filtration System. It does not convert a spa with cylindrical filters or another filtration design into a Simplicity system.

This regular-size system is not the same as the triangular FROG @ease Classic system used in Bullfrog X Series, STIL, and many older Bullfrog models. Confirm your filtration system, cartridge shape, spa model, and water capacity before ordering.

📋 How to Use

1. Confirm that your spa uses the flat, rectangular Simplicity Filtration System and the updated Simplicity Filter Housing 10-04669.
2. Fill the hot tub and confirm that the circulation and filtration equipment are operating properly.
3. Use a FROG @ease Test Strip to test the water.
4. Balance total alkalinity to 80–120 ppm.
5. Balance pH to 7.2–7.6.
6. Balance total hardness to 150–250 ppm.
7. Add the included FROG Jump Start packet according to its label directions to establish the initial chlorine residual.
8. Set the regular-size SmartChlor Cartridge dial according to the setting chart for your Bullfrog Spa model.
9. Set the blue Mineral Cartridge to its designated operating setting as directed in the instructions.
10. Insert both cartridges into the appropriate openings in the Simplicity filter housing until they latch securely.
11. Test the water regularly with FROG @ease Test Strips and replace the SmartChlor Cartridge when the Out Indicator shows that it is depleted.

The regular-size SmartChlor Cartridge typically lasts approximately three to four weeks in an average 400-gallon hot tub. Actual cartridge life varies based on spa size, water temperature, bather load, filtration, water balance, and dial setting.

Before ordering, inspect your filter compartment carefully. Bullfrog Spas manufactured before 2024 may require the updated Bullfrog Simplicity Filter Housing 10-04669. If you have a larger 8- or 9-size Bullfrog Spa, the XL Simplicity System Kit will generally be the better choice.

We strongly recommend using only FROG @ease Test Strips with this system. Standard strips can misinterpret the SmartChlor reserve and make the total chlorine reading appear higher than the active free-chlorine level.

Can I switch from bromine to this system without draining?

No. If the spa was previously maintained with bromine or biguanide, drain and refill it before installing FROG @ease. A spa previously using dichlor may be converted without draining only when the cyanuric acid level is below 80 ppm.
