1. Confirm that your spa has two cylindrical filters and the triangular Bullfrog Classic cartridge holder.
2. Test the water using FROG @ease Test Strips.
3. Maintain total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm.
4. Maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.6.
5. Maintain total hardness between 150 and 250 ppm.
6. Remove the Classic cartridge holder from between the two cylindrical filters.
7. Remove and discard the depleted silver SmartChlor Cartridge.
8. Set the new SmartChlor Cartridge dial according to the current setting chart for your Bullfrog Spa model.
9. Insert the new SmartChlor Cartridge into the correct opening in the holder.
10. Continue using the existing blue Mineral Cartridge if it is less than four months old and the spa has not been drained and refilled.
11. Reinstall the holder between the cylindrical filters with the silver SmartChlor Cartridge facing the inside of the hot tub.
12. Test regularly with FROG @ease Test Strips and replace the cartridge when the Out Indicator shows that it is depleted.

Each cartridge typically lasts approximately three to four weeks in an average 400-gallon hot tub. Actual life varies with water capacity, temperature, bather load, filtration, water balance, and cartridge setting.
